Glossary

The language we use to describe how Velu works. Every term on the platform is defined here, exactly as it is used.

Core Terms
Velu
Your professional portfolio on Velu: the complete, structured record of your career story. When someone says “check my Velu” or “my Velu”, they mean their full portfolio profile living at velu.pro/username.
Folio
The live, published version of your Velu. Your Folio is what others see when they visit your profile URL. Until you publish, changes you make in the Builder are not reflected in your Folio. `Folio` and `Velu` can be used interchangeably.
Builder
The private workspace where you construct and edit your Velu. Everything in the Builder is yours alone until you decide to publish it to your Folio.
Section
A distinct category of content within your Velu; for example, Work Experience, Skills, Projects, or Education. Each section organises a specific type of information and is displayed separately on your Folio.
Entry
A single item within a section. One job is an entry. One certification, one project, one award - each of these is an entry within its respective section.
Publishing
Publish
The action of pushing your Builder changes live to your Folio. Publishing creates a new snapshot of your portfolio that becomes visible to anyone with access to your Folio.
Snapshot
The saved state of your Folio at the time of your last publish. Visitors see your most recent snapshot until you publish again - your in-progress Builder edits remain private.
Visibility
The access level of your Folio. Public means anyone can view it. Restricted means only people you share a link with can view it. Hidden means your Folio is not accessible to anyone.
Sharing
Share link
A token-based URL for sharing a Restricted Folio with specific people. Anyone who has your share link can view your Folio without needing a Velu account - even if your Folio is not set to Public.
Profile URL
Your permanent address on Velu: velu.pro/username. This is the canonical link to your Folio - the URL you put on your CV, email signature, or social profiles.
AI
Resume import
An AI-powered feature that reads your uploaded resume PDF and automatically populates your Velu sections with the content it finds. It extracts roles, dates, skills, education, and more - giving you a structured starting point to refine rather than a blank canvas.
